The U.S. House of Representatives is gearing up to pass the "One, Big, Beautiful" budget reconciliation bill. It's a conservative bill which cuts taxes and cuts spending. While no bill is perfect, and compromises have to be made in a chamber where any three Republican "nay" votes sink a bill, this one is very worthy of support.

Tax Reform. The bill prevents a $1700 annual tax hike on families, starting in January of next year. In addition, it cuts taxes on the 90% of families who claim the standard deduction, increases the child tax credit from $2000 to $2500, and gives an extra "booster" inflation adjustment to the income tax brackets. It cuts taxes on Main Street businesses, increases the "death tax" standard deduction, restores full business and research expensing, and expands health savings accounts (HSAs). It begins the process of repealing the "Green New Deal" IRA tax credits the Democrats passed into law in 2022.

Medicaid Reform. The bill introduces a mandatory work requirement, kicks illegal immigrants off the program, requires states to verify eligibility every six months, and stops states from stealing from the program fraudulently.

Food Stamp Reform. The bill tightens the work requirement and makes other needed reforms to a program that grew out of control during Covid and the Biden years.

Government Bureaucrat Reforms. The bill ends the gravy train in federal employment, requiring government bureaucrats to pay more for their own sweetheart pension deals, and makes other changes to the highest paid cohort of workers in the country.

Energy, Border, Defense Improvements. If you care about any of these items, they're in the bill, too.

Pass the bill, Congressmen. That's why we elected you.
